Gäggersteg

So we had a pretty awesome afternoon one day in September when we drove to Gäggersteg, which I had seen pictures of in several places, but could not find the info for for forever.  I feel like that sentence probably should be revised, but I like it the way it is.  Anyway, it was beautiful but the only sad thing was Jethro wasn't with us because he was doing yard work for our friends to earn money.  He's saving up for Lego Mindstorms.

It was a cloudy day.  Don't you love the green of Switzerland?

Here is the trail.

We hadn't gone very far before we discovered that sooo much of the scrub brush was blueberry bushes.  So Brett and the kids started picking and eating them, and kept at it.  I had to drag them away because I was a bit worried the skies would open up and we would get poured on

So from what I gathered, there was a tornado some years ago that ripped a bunch of the trees down and that's why they built the walkways to go over top of them.  As you can see, a lot of rowan trees and other stuff has grown now.  Still, I don't know why, but there's something really fun about walking on a wooden bridge.

Isn't it crazy how you can see half of the view of the valley and then nothing where the clouds are?

We stopped and sat on a log and drank some hot chocolate.  It was delicious.

First Brett was walking so nicely holding the girls' hands,

and then he slams them into each other!!

It was hilarious.

Everyone was in such a happy mood-- it was so fun.  At one point, I laid Talmage down on a narrow board that was on the side of the trail and I said, "Look everyone!  Talmage died!"  And then Hazel got there and said, "I'll bring him to life," and proceeded to wave her hands over him and say some magical words and then when she said the final syllable, he opened his eyes and lived again!!  It was honestly amazing.  They could have practiced for months and never done it SOOO perfectly.  We were all so impressed.

The girls and I took a quick detour to see what was around a corner, and when we came running back to catch up to the boys they jumped out from their hiding spot and yelled, "Raaaaawwwrrrr!"  It was frightening.  Then I made them say it again for the picture.  :)

Then I climbed a tree.

Then Hazel climbed it too.

Then they looked for more blueberries and found a frog.

The girls spied this spider's web that had caught a bunch of the fluff from those flower things.

LOVED that pic of you and Hazel. All my kids want to visit you immediately. Eli wants blueberries for blueberry pancakes, and the rest want to climb up to the "playhouse."
