What's your guess?

Once upon a time a girl named Kayli knew she was going to be released from her primary calling. So, after being in the primary for about 3 1/2 years it was time to move on. She also knew that being in a ward where there would be a great flux of people leaving in the summer, she would probably get a new calling soon. She wondered what it would be. She was hoping that it would not be Young Women. In fact, she even made a little joke while talking to her younger sister Lindsay, who was the Laurel's Pres and was excited to move on to RS as she was done with that scene. Kayli said, "Yeah, I don't know if I'd be very good with YW--adolescent girls don't always bring out the best in me." And Lindsay agreed, saying, "Yeah, that's why when I got to be an adolescent I started hanging out with the boys." And Kayli said, "Yeah, that's why when I got to be an adolescent I got married." Ha haa. So, on the way to the church to speak with one of the bishopric members, Kayli got a little nervous that she had talked too much and would be called to YW. No. She did not. But she did get a call to serve in a position that would give her a big strong dose of humility. Each and every Sunday. BIG strong dose. Wonder what it is? Well, you will have to wait until Sunday to find out.

p.s. For those of you who wondered where the pictures were taken, we went downtown to where they have some alleys and cute shopfronts etc. Kindof would be scary if one was alone there at night. We had a good time.

Gospel Doctrine teacher?? that would be my "big dose of himilty" calling, for sure!! I'm sure whatever it is you'll be great. Don't know if I can handle the suspense until Sunday :)

I wish it was my teaching partner in Sunbeams but I doubt it. I am thinking Relief Society President if Mary is leaving. I don't know if she is though? I thoguht I had overheard something about you getting released. I'm pretty sure it is nothing with Sunday School because I would probably know about it from Steve. But who knows?

My first guess would be Sunday School teacher for the high schoolers! I'm sure you'll be great at whatever calling you get!

Gospel Doctrine would certainly give me a Huge Dose of humility so I'm going to guess that one too.

yep, my guess was Sunday school teacher as well. that would be the scariest calling for me. I have never really known someone to not want to get called to YW. i love it there.

How 'bout Gospel Essentials teacher? There's nothing quite so humbling - or nerve wracking - as an investigator asking deep doctrinal questions like whether or not the Lord holds Alcoholics accountable for their actions, since science has proven that alcoholism is something you can be predisposed to. Or why the song "Amazing Grace" isn't "good enough" to be in the LDS hymnbook. (Can't remember what I answered; I probably mumbled and tried make a joke. Thank goodness for Brother Harrington being there!) Since I'm not in your ward, you should tell me beforehand. :)

Hmmm...that's a good one. I have several guesses, but no clue. I will think about it and get back to you.

My educated guess is that you were called to be the organist!

So I went on elder's quorum visits tonight and heard about more people who are getting new callings. So, my guess is ward librarian or family history center worker. Very intense! Or when all else fails, you can always be the After-Sacrament-Dust-Buster-Operator to clean up all the smashed cheerios in the chapel. Honest, I think it's a real calling, because there was an old lady that did it in the 1st ward before the boundaries were changed. Now she's in the 3rd ward and nobody does it anymore. Jethro and Hazel will be great helpers for that one.

I can't get this off my mind. I'm thinking of everybody who is moving and most of the callings that I've thought of (except the ward organist) doesn't give you a dose of humility "every Sunday". So I know that it's probably not in the primary, at least not in the presidency anymore. You could still be Katrina's partner or you could take Holly's class, or somebody elses class that I know of but probably shouldn't say. You said that it's not in the YW where Sarah Palmer will be moving (Besides, I've already figured that one out) Katrina said it's probably not in the sunday school. I don't think that the Gospel Docrine teacher is moving-unless they are just switching the callings around. (Darn I should have gone to recipe group, I'm sure that Laura would have said something). So that leaves the music chair person (Hannah's calling) That won't make you humble "every" sunday.

So I'm just going to tell you that I got released from my ward organist calling on Wednesday. So that is my conclusion. Oh wait, Tiffany said that they will probably be moving into a house this summer, but I doubt that they would want/need to fill the chorister position yet. So that leaves me with you at the organ. Let me know, and I'll give you my key to the building.

What am I thinking? It's got to be in the nursery.

Or Semenary (sp?) teacher for next year? But then you wouldn't have been meeting with Brother Hockema, so that's out.

I was soooo going to say organist! but then I didn't because I didn't think that Ginger was leaving, and I wasn't sure if you played the organ. Now that Ginger just revealed she was released, that's my guess. Totally humbling...every Sunday. That's what I say...yep! That's it.It's gotta be!

Having Carl be the organist taught us how to never be late to church. Even now that he doesn't play anymore we are still there early.

I love how much speculation this topic has brought up. Fun stuff. I've had the same calling since I've moved here. Kind of boring. I like to change things up a bit.

Did you know the Bench family very well that just moved out of your ward? They are in our ward here in Lincoln now.

Kerry, It's one more example of the church calling a pianist to an organist position. Kayli is a pretty good pianist (and I'm not saying that because I was her teacher for 2 months!)

I think that I'm right since Kayli hasn't said a thing since her post on Thursday Morning.

Just to give you a heads up Kayli, the hymns for next week-not this sunday, but next-are all pretty good starter songs as far as organ goes. At least Shelly won't be leading, she still makes my blood pressure go up everytime she subs as the chorister!

Gosh I hope that Sunday never comes, I love the suspense and the sheer detectiveness that this brings out.

Hi Kayli!! I was so happy to see your comment on my blog! I just spent the last 30 minutes catching up on you and your sweet little family and I must say, you're still as amazing and adorable as ever! ;) What cute kids - you really are quite the photographer! What a beautiful baby! I love her name. As for your new calling - whatever it is, they'll be blessed to have you and I'm sure you'll give it 100% as usual ;0) If it's organist, you can be in James' club. He loves it, though. I'm sure that's what he'll do in California too! I'll go link your blog to mine so I can keep tabs on you ;) Take care -LOTS of hugs and good luck Sunday!
