Funny Hazel things of late.

Hazel signs her name Hal. Ha ha! She can't write the Z or L, so she just skips them. :) (She only learned how to write her name at Valentine's Day, so she could sign some of her Valentine's.)

She's a very good colorer. She colors for quite a long time every day, usually when Jethro is at school. On Sunday I ran into one of her older nursery leaders, Brother P., and he had to stop and tell me about what Hazel had done that day. He was giving the lesson to the nursery kids and to the sunbeams as well, because it was a lesson on being grateful for birds and insects, and he's an entymologist (he was even wearing an insect tie), and so anyway, he had made some cool butterfly and insect necklaces, and when he went into the class he took just butterflies, but his wife said that he better take some other kinds as well, because, "There'll be one kid who chooses something different." And one kid did....Hazel. She chose two ant necklaces. ?? Funny kid. Anyway, he went on to tell me that there have been two kids over the course of his time in nursery that have really stood out to him because of their uniqueness in a positive way (his words). And one was Hazel (and the other one was Sam, in case you read this Ginger). And then, his parting thought was, "And she colors SOOOOO amazingly well. Always such vibrant colors!" Hee hee.

So today, I don't remember exactly why, but she said something about being a princess, so I said, "Yes, you're a princess." And she said, "Which one?" And I said, "Princess Hazel." And she said, "Why?" And I said, "Because Princess Hazel is the prettiest, and the smartest, and the funnest." And she was quiet for a little while, and then said, "And the coloringest." Yes, definitely that. :)

The other day Jethro was telling us about what he had learned in his primary lesson that day, which was fasting. And he told us that Jesus had fasted 40 days, which is MORE than a month! And Hazel said, "And when he was a kid, he played with toys." ???? Sometimes she is completely random.

Sometimes if Ethne wakes up when I'm in the middle of something I need to finish, I'll tell Hazel to go in and play with her, so she'll go in and get in her crib with her, and I'll soon hear them laughing and laughing, and I'll go in and see a million toys that she carted in, and all the blankets thrown out. It's really cute.

Those are way cute stories. Your kids are geniuses. We were talking about kids who didn't follow 'social norms' in school---in that they weren't popular, but they were okay with that, and had their own friends, and she gave examples as "they are usually smart and can entertain themselves with their own hobbies" anyway, totally thought of Jethro the entire lecture. Your kids are adorable--I love that pic of both girls sitting on the fireplace.

I knotted tulle around an elastic. There are lots of tutorials if you google 'tutu tutorial' --such as this one:

The flower headbands I bought at Target, although I bet you could make them too.

Wow! Awesome kids. I think it is awesome how you can remember all the random things your kids say and record them! They will love it in days to come.
