Sledding on Gurnigel

IMGP0941
So the other day was a beautiful SUNNY Saturday, so we could not let it go to waste.   Outside our own house it looked like spring—the grass was green and everything.  So we drove up to Gurnigel.  And it was just the most beautiful place to go sledding ever!!  (So Dad, warm up your scroll finger… there are a LOT of pictures.  Then again… aren’t there always?)
IMGP0944
Jethro wore his ski boots and carried up his new skies only to realize once he got up there that Brett hadn’t adjusted the bindings yet to fit his boots, so he couldn’t ski after all.  Sad.
IMGP0945 IMGP0946
I just love LOOOOOVE blue sunny skies!!!!
IMGP0947 IMGP0951 IMGP0953
Brett was the first one I saw coming down the hill after Orrin and I caught up.
IMGP0956 IMGP0958 IMGP0959 IMGP0971 IMGP0972
Orrin just wanted to sit in the snow.
IMGP0973
Talmage.
IMGP0975 IMGP0976
Cute nose-scrunch smile from my honey.
IMGP0977
Hazel always insisted on sledding backwards.  :)
IMGP0981IMGP0984
I love this sequence of pictures.  Here’s Jethro on the left, and Ethne with Brett.
IMGP0985 IMGP0986
Ha ha—the look of terror on Ethne’s face!
IMGP0987 IMGP0988 IMGP0989 IMGP0990
Dead?
IMGP0992
Nope, she’s alive!  Yay!
IMGP0993
And still smiling.  :)
IMGP0995 IMGP0996
Wipe-outs—Talmage.
IMGP0999
Jethro.
IMGP1003 IMGP1004 IMGP1005
Hazel.
IMGP0982
Pretty silhouette of some people.
IMGP1015
Pretty mountains behind Orrin.  (Yes, I left him alone to go up a bit and get better shots of the sledders.  Good thing no one careened into him.)
IMGP1028IMGP1024 IMGP1025
She’s going with Daddy again.  Brave or foolhardy?
IMGP1030IMGP1032 IMGP1035 IMGP1036 IMGP1039
Then I convinced everyone to come walk up the trail a bit and around the corner to catch a little more of the sun, which from where we were had already gone down.
IMGP1040
And find it we did!
IMGP1043IMGP1047
Talmage was annoyed that he had to stop sledding, and whenever he could get away with it would stop walking and go up the hill a tiny bit and sled down.  Have I ever mentioned that he is so cute?
IMGP1058
We didn’t really walk far at all.  But man I sure loved the golden golden sun.

The bigger kids went back to the hill to sled, but Brett and Orrin chilled on their sled for a while, watching the sun go down and eating snow.
IMGP1098IMGP1130 IMGP1131 IMGP1139
Then we walked back to the hill and it looked like this.
IMGP1144 IMGP1146
Everyone went down a couple more times.
IMGP1148 IMGP1149
Do you see Talmage—the last man on the mountain, sliding down?
IMGP1155
Then the clouds did this as we made our way to the van.
IMGP1164 IMGP1167
It was such a great time, and no one even came home injured, which is pretty amazing.  Also, it takes, like, HOURS of work to get everyone and everyone’s stuff ready to go out sledding.   Or so it seems.
But it was worth it.

oh my that was a lot of pictures. It didn't seem like it when I read it in my reader but when I clicked over to comment and had to scroll down the scrolling didn't seem to stop:)

Anyway, beautiful pictures. I'm a tad jealous though because I LOVE sledding and everyone seems to be talking about it and we don't even really have to wear jackets here. I guess I shouldn't complain but I really do love snow. Love your pictures.

Why didn't you call me this morning? I sent thought after thought out to you--but you obviously weren't listening. I really need to figure out my magic jack password so I can call you again.

In the meantime--call me. Punk.

Kayli!

Hi! How are you guys? What fun times and beautiful pictures! So fun to see your cute family :) I totally agree that it seems like it takes 'hours' to get everyone ready to go sledding/play in the snow! And then they come in and dump all their wet stuff once they are done! The memories are worth it though :)
