Taquile Island

Second part of the day--after Uros, we headed to Taquile Island. I must say that gorgeous water makes me just swoon.

We walked up the path

to this beautiful house, where we had dinner.

The appetizers were these delicious scone-like fried bread (I believe they're called cachangas), and then we had a pico-de-gallo type thing to eat with them, and man we slicked them up so fast they were gone before the waiter practically put them down! They did bring us more actually because I think they sensed the ravenous edge to our delight.  And we had quinoa soup and then trout, on cool trout-shaped plates. Delicious.

I kind of wish we had seen more people on Lake Titicaca, but we only passed a few. They definitely dress a little differently than in Cusco. I snagged a couple pictures of these people selling things.

Such a beautiful, beautiful view. We could see Bolivia far off in the distance. That was significant to Hazel because her guy Kirby is on a mission in Bolivia, but he hadn't gotten there yet, so she saw it before he did.

Hazel loves the below picture. It is pretty good, I do agree.

The views were incredible.

Then we went down to play on the beach for a little while.

Hazel got her swimsuit on, and the little boys stripped down and they ran out into the water.  They said it was freezing.

Jethro just wore his pants, and ever so slowly walked out really really far.

See him?

We played in the sand, finding the gold dust in it.

There were no other people at the beach except after a while two Peruvian women came and sat down a ways away, and Talmage really wanted to borrow their shovel, so I went and charade-asked if we could borrow it and they said yes.

After a very fun time, we packed up and went back to the boat.

If you notice, the seat covers are all embroidered, "FIRTS CLASS TUORIST SERVICES." :)

And then a very relaxing couple hour boat ride back to Puno.

Beautiful. I wish all drives home were this lovely.

It's weird to see these pictures, but I ate that exact meal, at that exact place. And yes, so beautiful the lake and everything!
