So on Saturday (two Saturdays ago I think?) we went to Bauhaus to buy a Christmas tree. The trees are really expensive and really not so pretty. So then we looked at getting a fake one, but we thought it was pretty silly to get one now. So then I said, "Why don't we just do what Beat and Kathrin do, and go find a tree in the forest?" You aren't allowed to CUT one down, but you can find some that are already down, where they've been cutting/thinning the forest--realizing your tree is going to be extremely not perfect-- and so we decided to do that.
We had fun and when your options are extremely limited, you are pretty pleased with the first roundish tree you find. :)
It's a pretty ugly tree, and even though we could have trimmed a few branches here and there to make it a bit more symmetrical, the kids wouldn't have it. They love the tree as is. I think the moral of this story is that Brett and I are great big cheapskates.
Oooooh! Aaaaaah!
